The construction of this museum had been finished in between 1987 and 1990. It is a building as well as a ship; to be exact it’s the battleship “Vasa” build by King Gustav Vasa in 1628 that has been integrated into the architectural structure of the building. With its majestic size the ship was intended as a demonstration of His Royal Highness’ powers, but it sank only few minutes after its launching in Stockholm’s seaport. Some centuries later it had been secured almost without any sign of damage. Today the ship found its place not far from the scene of the accident serving as a museum.
