Cult, secret – Arturo is both. At first glance, the menu doesn’t seem Venetian at all, but more classic Russian or French. For 40 years, Ernesto Ballarin has been known for his filets – green pepper or Stroganoff. Tom Ford, Tom Hanks and Barbra Streisand have all dined here. But the cult following is also because of Ernesto himelf, whose charming egocentricity fills the Trattoria with life and passion. Despite this natural flair, Ernesto also has traditional Italian sensibilities and cuts his “beef tartar” by hand. The high price it is accorded is justified.
But take note so you don’t end up cutting your Beer Tatare at home: credit cards are not accepted.
