It doesn‘t just feel like a film set, Michael Douglas actually drank some liquor here in the movie “Basic Instinct”. Since 1919 professional barkeepers in stylish white jackets serve at the meters long, marvellously beautiful old bar their “house cappuccino”: a delicious mix of hot chocolate and a generous shot of brandy. The chocolate for the indulging drink comes from the long-established chocolate factory Ghiradelli a few blocks further. The drink comes from a time when alcohol was forbidden and the owner had to brew the liquor himself. Just as loved is the gin martini, which clearly belongs to the stronger variety of drinks. The combined bar interior is fantastically original, like the patina on the walls. Whether you sit in the back in one of the comfortable corners or on the dark red worn-leather chairs; you will feel like you just landed in the 1950s. Especially when the waitress comes by and serves classic mixes, to the sound of Frank Sinatra on the original Jukebox. A wonderful old-school joint with a classic nostalgic ambiance, which is not forgotten easily.
