The Potluck Club of Luke Dale-Roberts is the restaurant in Cape Town and the tables are booked weeks in advance. Famous for its exquisite and trendy location at the top of Old Biskuit Mill in Woodstock, the restaurant with its three glass fronts offers a spectacular view over the city. Just a few years ago it was an absolute “No-Go Area”, at least for whites and tourists, and today it is the centre of the creative scene. Like the building itself, the interior of the Potluck Club is industrial – with black walls, open kitchen, rustic wooden counter and a sea of lamps. The menu is a fusion of Asia and South Africa with dishes like duck breast with Naartje and Yuzu dressing, fish tacos or fried squid and everything is designed for sharing. Brunch is served here on Sundays and while the Old Biscuit Mill Market is raging downstairs, you can sit enthroned and enjoy churros, oysters or wild mushrooms on toast.
