What could be better than feeling at home when you’re away? One of the requirements is staying somewhere private, and at Joan Hull and John Phillip’s bed and breakfast just that is possible. You are sure to feel at home when you unlock the door of this old house with a unique furniture collection that has been growing over the years, creating a special ambiance. In the living room you can put your feet up in front of the crackling fireplace and settle into an easy conversation over a glass of wine. Joan and John’s friends held their breath when they bought the house 30 years ago; they couldn’t believe that the two would feel at home in the once grungy neighborhood. “Back then we were the only ones that felt the special spirit of the house. Today it is a true pearl in the beautiful Hayes Valley, and we enjoy sharing 5 of the rooms with our guests” says Joan Hull. Naturally such a cozy nest cannot be without a delicious multi-course breakfast with fresh fruit, granola and pancakes with Meyer lemons. All of that can be enjoyed in the fire-lit dining room and Joan and John take turns preparing and serving it personally. On the first day you will already hope never to have to leave the Parsonage, nor the housedog Pilar, who was named after the Ernest Hemingway’s boat.
