Where once goats grazed on the corner of Oxford Street – because of Lady Portman’s cow milk allergy – is nowadays the stylish Public House & Hotel. Goats are only found in stuffed form – as décor in the wonderful rooms with bright oiled wood, vintage leather and a style which is somewhere in between hunters’ cabin, country house and saloon. A Place To Be in London! And while the restaurant and bar provide the in-crowd with selected drinks and delicacies such as burgers with cress and fennel or cod with baby artichoke, you can retreat yourself to one of the six quiet rooms, which give you the feeling as if you were in a posh country house. “The Grazing Goat” belongs to two blokes who know what they’re doing: Stefan Turnbull and Barry Hirst, owners of the legendary “The Thomas Cubitt”.
