Located on Abbot Kinney, one of LA’s more popular streets, The Butcher’s Daughter serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends. The shabby-chic, farmhouse style, plant-based restaurant, juice bar and cafe is one of the most poppin’ places in Venice, with an 100% vegetarian, daily-changing menu. Offering many vegan and gluten-free options, here you can eat with the season, as they are committed to buying their produce from local & organic farms. Believe me, you’ll taste the freshness in every bite while supporting the community’s pledge to sustainability. The vintage-style interior is warm and inviting, but if you’re looking to have a heart-to-heart with your best friend, this might not be the best place to go. It’s quite loud inside, probably because it is always busy – make sure to schedule in some waiting time as they don’t take reservations and it’s extremely well visited. Many of the foods are served as tapas-style, small dishes, made for sharing – definitely on the more expensive side, but worth it! The salads are especially loved here, try the Stone Fruit & Radicchio for lunch, the Spicy Kale Caesar for brunch, or the Fig Caprese in the evenings! They are also known for their stone-oven pizzas which have a gluten-free cauliflower crust – the Dolce Picante pizza is to die for – and their unique, summery cocktails, ranging from the ‘Oaxacan The Beeten Path, with some mezcal and a smokey salt rim, to the ‘Tarragon With The Wind’, with house infused tarragon lemon gin and rhum clement creole shrub. The Butcher’s Daughter is also featured at Venice Food Trucks, which is open Friday mornings from 7 am to 12 pm at the Venice Farmer’s Market. You can book the food truck for events if you’re throwing a get-together, and you don’t want to worry about having to cook. This ‘vegetable slaughterhouse’ is a must-go – they treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat, and they bathe their customers in fresh produce & delicious juices.
