Inspired by Wong Kar-wai’s ‘In The Mood for Love’, a mixture of wicked Speakeasy bar and noble tea room stretches out in the basement of the Bun House. Illuminated by green-coloured neon tubes in the form of Cantonese characters, luxurious velvet fabrics in rich red tones are revealed. The ’60s tunes from a vintage vinyl jukebox are accompanied by authentic Chinese drinks, such as the national drink, colloquially “Chinese Vodka”, to which an entire menu has been dedicated. And of course it is worth mentioning the grandiose selection of Chinese teas. At the weekend, when the Tea House is open until 3 a.m., you can spend a lot of time and leisure milling through the tea card and later the spirits card. Hunger is also taken care of – accompanied by the drinks there is a fine selection of hearty snacks, such as the chicken wings marinated in garlic or the traditional dumplings with their wafer-thin dough.
