The Southern Guild Collectible Design Gallery commissions, produces and exhibits contemporary design by South Africa’s best talents. The gallery has pioneered the continent in the category of collection design, driving its artists to create original work of global relevance. Southern Guild’s rigorous curatorial programme, founded in 2008 by Trevyn and Julian McGowan, has shaped the perception of African design uniquely in the art world. Located in the Silo district, the gallery presents limited editions that have won numerous awards and attracted the attention of leading auction houses and museums. In addition, Southern Guild Collectible Design Gallery, was the first African gallery to participate in the Christie’s Londonn and Design Miami design auctions, where it continues to exhibit regularly.
