The splendor of Somerset House is just as magnificent on the inside as it is on the outside. The inside preserves countless art treasures from Botticelli to Rubens and Van Gogh. The house is divided into sections, one being the Courtauld Institute of Art, where old masters, impressionists, and post-modern paintings decorate the walls. Additionally, there is the Gilbert Collection, which shows over 800 works of ornamental art, as well as the Hermitage Rooms, where you can marvel at exhibits from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Walking through picturesque corridors is a true delight, and during the holiday season there is a fairytale ice-skating rink in the atrium. Moreover, the Somerset House has a cafe, which appreciates the art of the barista, as it is run by deli artists Fernandez & Wells. Here you can enjoy an excellent cappuccino, as well as delicious cake creations, sandwiches, and salads with roasted almonds, ricotta cheese, pears, beans, and pine nuts.
