One of the most beautiful places in Cannobio is the Scurone. The tiny bar is only a few metres from the lake promenade, yet it is well hidden in a small side street, so it is mainly locals who find their way here. Bottega Scurone stands for everything we love Italy for. There is only room for four tables inside. Two more squeeze onto the terrace and a third is actually already in the alley. The bar is well frequented at all times of the day by heavily packed market-goers, newspaper-reading wine drinkers and hungry families. People gather here before lunch or dinner to discuss the week’s events over a sprizz and olives. But the real sensation takes place behind the counter. In an area of less than 2 m2 and at the speed of light, two eager barrista whirl around and throw espressos, cappuccini, sprizzes and various cheese and cold cuts from behind the counter. It probably goes without saying at this point that the coffee is excellent, the sprizz great, the wine exquisite and the food divine.
