Next to the small mermaid, Copenhagen’s most famous symbol is probably the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufacture founded in 1775. Royal table dressings, vases, porcelain figures, and traditional dishware patterns make up their exclusive selection to this day. The three waves in the manufacturer’s mark symbolize the three seaways surrounding Denmark: the small belt, large belt and the Öresund. If the daily stream of tourists doesn’t bother you, you’re sure to find inspiration for the perfect gift. In the courtyard is the Royal Café done up in “funky baroque” style where you can take a break and enjoy a Smushi, a smørrebrød and sushi sandwich.
