After seemingly endless serpentines, if you almost want to give up, you can see it on the slope: the Restaurante Vipore with its legendary French fries. Their secret: fresh herbs such as sage, thyme and rosemary, all of which are deep-fried to create a very special and delicious taste. You should have eaten them once in your life, because they are not only known far beyond Tuscany, but are actually among the best French fries in the world. They go particularly well with Pollo alla brace, a Tuscan grilled chicken so perfectly prepared that it is wonderfully juicy inside and the skin wonderfully crispy. Similarly good are the Tagliata di manzo all heirs aromatic, the Tortelli and the Insalata di pane, a typical Tuscan bread salad. But actually you should eat the legendary French fries with chicken in the Vipore. And best of all in the secluded garden, because the view from there of the Lucca Valley and Lucca itself is just as legendary as the menu – and the innkeeper. Drink Fattoria Buonamico red wine with it and luck is perfect.
