Pophams Bakery has earned a cult following on Instagram for its highly photogenic baked goods. But admittedly, the delicacies like lemon curd and poppy seeds or rhubarb and scalded custard pastries also look melt-in-your-mouth. Behind it is Ollie Gold, who opened his first Pophams location in Islington in 2017. But it’s not just the product that’s right, the philosophy is too. Here, Pophams focuses entirely on simplicity. The bakery has croissants and pastries, and everything is made from the same dough. A similar principle applies at the second Pophams location, but it specializes in pasta – exclusively pasta. Every night there are four to five pasta dishes, basta. So Pophams does two things really well, instead of a thousand and one. We love it!
