New York is known for its speakeasy bars. Patent Pending at 49 West 27th Street is one of them. While the Patent Coffee is a coffee shop that offers pastries and snacks during the day, Patent Pending has an underground cocktail bar at night that can only be reached through a secret door. After 5 pm the doors of the Patent Coffeeshop are closed and Patent Pending is opened. Hidden behind a suspiciously ordinary door, the Speakeasy bar waits in the old cellar of the radio wave building where Nikola Tesla lived and conducted his experiments at the beginning of the 20th century. Just ring the buzzer and then pass through the candle-lit café to the hidden door that hides the bar. A New York at its best feeling.
