Palazzo Rhigini is a wonderful example of how it is possible to preserve old structures without sacrificing modern conveniences. The hotel, cleverly built within the walls of an ancient Augustinian convent, is located in the heart of the old town of Fossano, a stone’s throw from the central castle of Castello degli Acaja.
The rooms are equipped with the most modern technology, but have natural wooden ceilings, partly raw stone walls and wooden floorboards – in the bathrooms a modern style with polished concrete floors prevails. Some of the bathrooms are quite small, but very cosy.
A small highlight of the hotel is the arcade corridor, which forms an illustrious inner courtyard in the middle of the complex and is also used for breakfast in summer.
The restaurant, a gourmet temple, in the walls of the cellar offers upscale Italian cuisine. The accompanying wine cellar, which is based on a vault room, offers a considerable selection of Italian and international wines – an excellent wine accompaniment is therefore part of the programme. But above all the old church of the monastery is impressive, which offers an ingenious ambience for events and is rented at amazingly good rates.
