A gem in the buzzing Los Angeles art district, MANUELA is an antique warehouse which serves an eclectic taste of vegetables, grains, fish and meat. The magical essence of the restaurant is felt through its rustic structure and expansive space, opening up towards the sky, to enjoy the afternoon sun and brightly lit evenings. The menu celebrates seasonal ingredients from the best locally owned, family-oriented farmers and producers in Southern California, striving to serve only organic, sustainable & ethically grown produce, meat & seafood. They have a daily changing menu, but are best known for many of the specialties, such as their small, shared plates: the burrata with smoked trout roe, sun gold tomato, perilla salt & grilled toast and the Morro Bay oysters with preserved fennel and citrus oil. Not to be forgotten, their salads and market vegetables, many of which are taken from the MANUELA garden, such as the roasted cauliflower with halawi date vinegar and almonds and their wood grilled red okra with cucumber yogurt and sumac. If you’re waiting to be seated, just go outside and relax in the garden, have a drink and sit in the midst of the beautiful herbs growing around you. What a lovely way to spend a summer evening in the heart of the bustling city. This restaurant unites a chef, farmer and artist combination. The walls are decorated with artworks from Paul McCarthy, Franz West, Subodh Gupta, etc., and the cafe is designed by Los Angles local, Matt Winter. Very well visited, this effortlessly casual yet intricate space is painted with high-end artwork that includes a wide range of variation and rotates frequently. This place is hands down one of the best in Los Angeles area, let your guard down and simply enjoy!
