Leila’s Shop, a stone’s throw from busy Shoreditch High Street, is a wonderful neighbourhood café. It’s definitely not one of those fancy brunch places with a page-turning selection of dishes, but this place is a treasure trove. Fresh rye bread, fresh fish, vegetables of all colours and sizes and handmade jam line up in this little shop. The menu is on a notice board on the wall and the open kitchen gives a glimpse of the fresh ingredients used. The drinks are too small for their price, but the food is excellent. Whether it’s the brown bread with Serrano ham, cheese and pickles or the fried eggs in the pan.
