When Lavanderia Vecchia opened its doors, it was fully booked for months at once. Several years have passed and the Italian restaurant is still as popular, but the first hype has passed. Now people who plan ahead for only one or two weeks also have a chance to eat here. The concept of the Lavanderia is straightforward and imported directly from Italy by owner Andreas Hoffmann. You eat what is being served. And the kitchen serves four courses, in odd weeks with fish as the main course, in even weeks with meat. The name gives away that the restaurant is located in an old laundry, in a backyard in the Neukölln district. Washing lines with tea towels cross the room and remind us of past times. Neon tubes are installed on the whitewashed walls. It is very recommendable to come here on summer days. You can sit outside in the typical Berlin backyard and dream of Italy. Lavanderia also offers a good lunch menu.
