The Chorin monastery is clearly one of Brandenburg’s most beautiful buildings and Karl Friedrich Schinkel was already committed to the preservation of the Gothic ensemble. The monastery was built from 1273 onwards. With its Gothic style and filigree ornamentation, it is not only one of the first but also one of the most important architectural monuments of the Brick Gothic period. Since April 2017 a permanent exhibition has been showing the history of the monastery from its origins to its rediscovery by Schinkel in the 19th century. The concerts that take place in the former monastery church are unforgettable.
