They’re neither related nor in-laws. But the Pasticceria Nannini belongs to Siena like Gianna Nannini to Italian rock music. For many, a coffee in the Conca d’oro flagship store might be as much part of a trip to Tuscany as the Piazza del Campo.
The coffee is as legendary as the world-famous Panforte. The classic is white and consists of honey, almonds, figs, candied lemon peel and orange peel, sugar and various spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. It is still available in variants, for example with cocoa or peperoncino. According to tradition, it should consist of 17 ingredients, so many Contraden, i.e. quarters, there are in Siena.
