In memory of the writer Joseph Roth, and befitting the name, Roth’s books and images cover the walls everywhere you look. Today it’s a lovely local bar serving food where protagonists from the new Potsdamer Strasse art scene meet. It’s cozy, almost a little French, and the only place of its kind in the area. The kitchen offers decent regional-style fare including Flammenkuchen (Alsation French/German style pizza) and Spätzle (a noodle specialty from Southern Germany), but nothing especially noteworthy. It’s more the good atmosphere, the island outpost and pioneering spirit that will pull you in.
