The Hotel Monte Verità is located, as the name suggests, at the very top of the mountain of the same name above Locarno. Several villas and the main building – the Bauhaus hotel – are spread out in a huge park. The Monte Verità has a total of 88 beds and numerous meeting and conference rooms. The highlight is, of course, the main building, built by the architect Emil Fahrenkamp between 1927 and 1929 on behalf of the German banker and art collector Baron Eduard von der Heydt. The Baron was the last owner of the Hügelgel.ndes, and after his death it became the property of the Canton of Ticino. The rooms and corridors of the Bauhaus hotel have been renovated in recent years while preserving the Bauhaus style elements and are still consistently furnished with Bauhaus furniture. Spartan, but probably the most stylish and tasteful thing Ticino has to offer. You should definitely rent a room in the main house and with a balcony. The view is fantastic and the experience unique. The villas are all individually furnished and vary in size. Here you have the advantage of your own large terrace, as well as a kitchen. The latter is a particular pleasure in the morning, as the breakfast in the hotel is very simple: packaged butter and jam instead of homemade food.
