Eating an Adana Joghurt Kebab at the Hasir, is almost like a short trip to Istanbul. Hasir is situated in Kreuzberg 36, Berlin’s heart of the Turkish community living here. Mehmet Aygün opened his restaurant more than thirty years ago and up until now it is most definitely one of the best Turkish restaurants and a part of Berlin’s history. Even today the elder men with their flat caps come here every day to eat their lentil- or innards-soup out of the authentic metal bowls. Smart guys sit around drinking sweet tea and families take part in lively conversations while eating off a delicious plate of grilled lamb. Mixed in with the crowd you’ll find students, German businessmen and a few freaks from around the area – all enjoying their favourite dishes. Hasir has expanded and runs six restaurants throughout town, but none of them has the same authentic flair as this first one.
