The Gasthaus Stern was first mentioned in a document around 1186 and has been in this house since 1573. It can hardly be overlooked from the outside, the façade is decorated with elaborate frescoes. The old farmhouse is an extremely impressive ensemble of dark forests. Old tin plates and family photos from old times hang on the walls. The tiled stove completes the cliché perfectly. Even the chairs are works of art created by a sculptor who built them in return for board and lodging. A popular place is certainly the round bench next to the window in the old farmhouse.
Since 1718 the inn has been run as a family business in the same line – the current owners are two brothers who have taken over the restaurant from their uncle and aunt. They do everything themselves and even cook on an old fire oven.
Even if it would not be surprising, the house is in a very pleasant way not touristy – in the afternoon at 5.00 pm one meets locals who drink their beer after work. On the menu you will find all typical Tyrolean dishes, schnitzel, veal goulash and Kaiserschmarren. The spinach noodles with roasted onions were delicious. Rounded off with a Starkenberger Pils and a Tyrolean soul should be satisfied.
