At the Miro museum, along with works by the famous Catalonian, works by younger avant gardists are also exhibited. The architecture of the ateliers is also noteworthy. Completely untouched it is jewel of its time. Miró made Mallorca his home from 1956 until his death in 1983. The auction of three of his oil canvases in 1986 financed the foundation and in 1987 architect Rafael Moneo set about implementing the plans for a space devoted to the exhibition and preservation of Miró’s atelier and work.
