You can hardly live in Sicily more authentic than on the organic farm of Chiara and Ernesto. Your Fattoria Mosè is a dreamlike, lush property on a hill north of Agrigento and anything but 08/15 tourism. Breakfast is served at a long table in the dining room of the main house and, with glasses of freshly boiled jam, crocheted doily and wild crockery mix, looks like a Sicilian still life of old masters. In the evening all guests sit together in the secluded garden under olive trees, almost like at an Italian family dinner. Chiara or Ernesto cook alternately. The salads and vegetables come directly from the garden, for the pasta all Vongole the clams are ordered in the morning with the fisherman by telephone, and the delicious Crostata with mulberries after old family recipe has addiction potential. With velvety red wine, lively conversations across the table and a light breeze from the sea, it quickly becomes midnight. Here one gets an idea of the true country life of Sicily: Beside the cultivation of almond, pistachio, orange and lemon trees, oil from the own olives is cold pressed. The two operators attach great importance to the top quality of their products, and with great success: their organic olive oil, which is also available in variants with basil or lemon flavour, has made it all the way to London’s Fortnum & Mason.
