In 2007 Oscar Farrinetti opened the first Eataly department store in the halls of the old Malzfabrik, a stone’s throw away from the old Fiat factory in Lingotto. The idea is firmly linked to the Slow Food movement, which now has Eataly as a showcase for the whole idea. In this foodie temple you get everything you could wish for in authentic local products. High-quality fresh food counters with meat, cheese, ham, bread, but also a selection of packaged foods, all according to Slow Food guidelines. You can eat at the small food corners. In addition to food, there is a wide range of food literature and cooking utensils. There is also a cooking school under this roof. Here you don’t just go shopping, here you can experience Italian food – a real pleasure is to simply inform yourself along the shelves about all the many delicacies “Made in Italy”.
