The gallery Blum & Poe (2727 S. La Cienega) opened its doors in 2003. With artists such as Takeshi Murakami, Sharon Lockhart and Friedrich Kunath, Blum & Poe were the first to move into the industrial area from Culver City – and about 30 galleries followed. Today the galleries are lined up like pearls on a necklace along South La Cienera and Washington Boulevard, turning the area into THE art hot spot of the city. Take a stroll along the former auto repair shops and furniture manufacturers and enjoy the extensive collection of various contemporary art pieces. Among the most interesting galleries belong David Kordansky (3143 La Cienega), Francois Ghebaly (2600 La Cienega), Angles (2754 La Cienega), Nye+Brown (2685 La Cienega), Mark Moore (5790 Washington Blvd) and China Art Objects Galleries in the nearby Comey Ave (6086). You can take a break at Batch Bar (8631 Washington) and have a burger, pizza or sandwich with a drink. All addresses and a map of the area can be found on www.ccgalleryguide.com.
