The Clown Bar is located in a small street, five minutes walk from the Place de la République. From the outside it looks like a typical Parisian bistro, with narrow rows of chairs and round metal tables. The interior is a nostalgic blend of Belle Époque and Art Nouveau, with richly decorated ceilings and playfully tiled walls. And it is full. Very full. Reserving a table here is at least as difficult as reserving a table with a Grand Chef. Not necessarily because there are no seats, but because they can only be booked by telephone, but often nobody goes to the same place. But don’t give up, the persistence is rewarded with sensational French classics: beef tatar, burrata, cucumber, pine nuts and dried tuna heart as well as pithivier of goose and duck wait.
