The mosaic floor of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata, which consists of millions of coloured limestones and is probably the work of the Basilian monk Pantaleonis, is almost world-famous. According to evidence, in two years of work he created a huge web of biblical stories, allegorical and mythological scenes that reflect the medieval spiritual world. A truly gigantic work! The cathedral is also a particularly impressive example of Apulian Romanesque.
