In the Café Höpker you can have lunch and breakfast, but you will be really happy here if you enjoy the gigantic cake buffet in the afternoon. Cake “old school” but fine. Anyway, first of all, you will be as surprised as we are, that in this residential area in a corner house, one can find such a café at all – one that has a huge garden area in which one can sit very nicely, but that also has an amazingly international audience in the angled guest room. There is a reason for this: in the nearby Zeppelin University, above all, many American students study. And they would like to enjoy this “German coffee klatsch” atmosphere. By the way, the café is authentic because Grandma Höcker wanted to open a café in the middle of the new settlement area in the 1950s and couldn’t even believe that she got a permit herself. The son, who works as a confectioner in Switzerland, was immediately telegraphed: Cancel immediately – stop – permission granted – stop – your mother. Since then, the second generation of the family has been baking and offering guests a very familiar atmosphere. Just try it – and don’t tell anyone, the service thinks the red wine chocolate cake with pears is the best! So do we.
