Television Chef Tim Mälzers Bullerei is located in the heart of Schanzenviertel steps from the Sternschanze S-Bahn station. This former beef slaughterhouse is now a favorite restaurant. Spectacularly restored, interestingly laid out with 130 places for dinner as well as a deli, where you can grab a bite on the go at any time. Industrial charm meets shabby chic in the blue, industrial lamps over the bar and “patchwork” wooden tables by the Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek bringing international flair to the Hanseatic City. The cuisine is seasonal, new German with Mediterranean influences. A slice of Ochsen bread with olive oil and sea salt goes well with the “Green Machine” salad – a mix of the best that farm and forest have to offer–, the Burger Classico and Burrata for two are already menu staples, and the “old school” apple crumble makes for sweet end indeed. Weather permitting, it is wonderful to dine on the raised, outdoor terrace and watch colorful Schanzen pass by. And if you’re lucky, maybe you will even run into Tim Mälzer himself.
