Johann Liebhard began construction in 1877, and today the brewery brews a wide variety of beers under the most modern conditions under the auspices of master brewer Franz Inselkammer: Lager Hell, the intensive Kirta beer and also Weizenbock. The brewing water is pumped up from an ice age bubble 176 metres deep. Only aroma hops from Haltetau and malting barley from the surrounding area are used, the yeast comes from Weihenstephan University. It is worth visiting the brewery: it is considered to be the most modern in Europe and was reopened in 1999 after major renovations.
