Long ago it was a punishment to be housed in the Au Violon, now the 20 modest rooms of the hotel are much sought-after. Not only because of the moderate prices, but also because of the secluded location right by the Leonhards Church. The only things that would lead one to suspect that Au Violon was once a prison are the narrow doors to the rooms. Those who are not fortunate enough to get a room in this charming accommodation, should definitely visit the hotel’s own brasserie. Screened by an archway, high above the Barfüsserplatz, one has a beautiful view over the roofs of old town while seated at the tables clad in white cloths. In the background you can hear the gurgling of a fountain.
