At 650 years old, the restaurant Blaue Gans isn’t simply the oldest inn of the city—for just as long, it’s been a favorite destination of Salzburgers. There, they enjoy Wiener Schnitzel, Tafelspitz and fish from the surrounding creeks so fresh it was probably caught the same morning. On Saturdays at noon, however, the locals love to visit the produce market and afterward sample the legendary fried chicken. It’s best to eat it on the green terrace at Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz. A wonderful place to withdraw from the city’s bustle.
