Berta is the new go-to place for Levantine cuisine in Berlin, in Schöneberg to be precise. It’s nothing new, Berliners love Tel Aviv vibes and Tel Avivers love Berlin vibes. So it’s a good match, or so Israeli celebrity chef Assaf Granit thought. Berlin is also the birthplace of his grandmother Berta. So the restaurant is also a tribute to his beloved grandmother, of whom the crocheted rugs are also a reminder. Everything that Eastern European cuisine has to offer is on the plate. Tunisia, Georgia, Iraq – the dishes are a mix of traditional family recipes and innovative reinterpretations of classics. To give you a little taste: Kreplach with parmesan filling, mackerel sashimi, aubergine tureen or aubergine brûlée are already among our favourites!
