Babette is a neighbourhood darling through and through in the upscale Östermalm. But as upscale as the residents here are, as sympathetically uncomplicated and relaxed the Babette is. In the open kitchen, Neapolitan pizzas are baked without much fuss. In addition there are all kinds of antipasti and definitely the best wine selection from Östermalm. As budget-friendly as the dishes are, as high-priced are the wines – which is absolutely justified in view of the fine wines. But the most beautiful thing about Babette is the unagitated atmosphere. People from the neighbourhood come through the door to have a snack with friends, drink a glass of wine and let the day end. A cosy Kiezbistro, as it says in the book!
