150 years ago, the Portuguese Romencier Eca de Queiros, lived and worked in this small palace, which was built in the seventeenth century. A few relics from that time can still be found in the old wing of the hotel. The upstairs terrace of the building’s modern extension has a majestic view of the city and the Tejo, whereas the old buildings garden is beautifully shady and cool. The attention to the guests and the sincerity shown is truly exceptional. Each of their seventeen rooms has a decanter with port wine and next to the roof terrace they have a small kitchen, offering tea and coffee and small snacks at any time. The rooms might be a bit overloaded, less could have been more; but the boutique hotels location is especially convenient if you plan on visiting the museum of antique art, the monastery and the tower of Belém.
