The Albergo della Posta nestles pinkly in the mountains of Monteggio, a wide view of the valley opens up from the veranda and fresh mountain air blows through the window. Since 1888, the old villa, once the village post office, has been attracting guests to the remote village of Astano. For a long time, the hotel only managed to keep going, the region was poor and not yet well developed for tourism. But then the photographer Eugen Schmidhauser took the wrong stagecoach, landed at the Albergo della Posta, fell in love with the daughter and helped the hotel to revive. The hotel is still in the hands of the Schmidhauser family, but has been run by Franziska and Alex Beeler since November 2013. While he looks after the culinary well-being of the guests with regional products and selected wines, Franziska takes care of the soul. As a body coach and therapist, she offers yoga seminars and other workshops. The rooms of the hotel are simple but lovingly furnished with old wooden furniture. There are no televisions and nothing else to disturb the peace. The four vintage rooms are located in the old main building of the hotel. Next door in Casa Nicoletta, housed in part of the 18th century Palazzo de Marchi, there are more modern rooms with a mix of historical elements and eighties design.
