The A4 Arts Foundation was created on the initiative of collector Wendy Fisher and her curator Josh Ginsburg, in the heart of Cape Town. The institution is dedicated to the promotion and presentation of African contemporary art that has received little attention to date. Wendy Fisher’s collection forms the basis of the institution’s work. A few years ago, the decision matured in her to make her works of art accessible to the public in the most constructive way possible. She engaged Josh Ginsburg as curator in order to initially question the works with regard to their position within South African art history. It quickly became clear to both that they wanted more than simply exhibiting the works. The A4 Arts Foundation was a wonderful concept that moved between the academy, art market, and museum institution.
